Intrauterine Adhesions (uterine synechiae)
Intrauterine adhesions are often associated with amenorrhea or infertility. Hysteroscopy can be used to diagnose and treat these adhesions. By hysteroscopic treatment abnormal bleeding cycles can return to normal in about 90% of the patients. Intrauterine infections, previous operations for pregnancy termination or curettage for polyps, myomas can lead to intrauterine adhesions.
The complications of intrauterine adhesions are as follows:
Infertility Early abortions Recurrent miscarriages Recurrent implantation failures Intrauterine growth retardation Fetal positioning abnormalities Preterm labor Management: hysteroscopic synechiae section 1 month of intrauterine device Balloon pracedure and hormonal treatment |
