T or Y Shaped Uterus
Mullerian anomalies are congenital abnormalities which are present in 5% of infertile population and 15% of the patients with recurrent miscarriage. Patients with in utero DES exposure or some unknown aetiologies are likely to have a T-shaped uterus with corneal restriction bands, pretubal bulges, lower uterine segment dilation, and a small and irregular cavity with borders resembling adhesions.
The complications of the T or Y shaped uterus are as follows:
Infertility
Early abortions
Recurrent miscarriages
Recurrent implantation failures
Intrauterine growth retardation
Fetal positioning abnormalities
Preterm labor
Management:Hysteroscopic enlargement of the lateral and upper walls of the uterus 1 month of intrauterine device Balloon procedure and hormonal treatment |
