Egg Collection Process

Egg collection process is conducted under local anesthesia or mild general anesthesia.
The patient is lied down on the gynecology table. When sterile conditions are provided, the piece, having a thin ultrasound probe below (needle guide) is attached. The egg collection needle, passed through this thin channel, is followed-up via ultrasound and entered into the ovaries. Every folicules are entered into and the liquids inside are emptied. The liquid collected in the tubes is transported to the adjacent laboratory. The embriyologist informs whether each folicule liquid contains an egg or not. If there are no eggs, then folicule is filled with a special liquid and then emptied again. With this process, called "Flushing" or "Folicul Washing", eggs are tried to be collected from the folicules that an egg can not be retrieved previously. When each folicule over 10 mm are emptied, the egg collection process is stopped. The total period of this process does not usually exceed 30 minutes.

The sorting and evaluation of the eggs obtained with egg collection are performed.

Many grown folicules can be seen on the day of
egg collection with ultrasound.
