IVF and Anesthesia
Anesthesia is used in IVF treatment, especially in ovum pick-up (OPU). However, it is also performed during embryo transfer in our patients in case of will.
The anesthesia method is general anesthesia in spontaneous ventilation. This means that our patient is completely asleep and does not feel anything, but she is breathing on his own. The main difference from the anesthesia used in major surgeries is that curare derivatives and drugs that disable the muscles are not given to the patient, and thus the patient does not need to be connected to the ventilator and as soon as the procedure is over, she can wake up quickly and be discharged 1 hour later
Anesthetic drugs are injected through a small cannula attached to the arm, and no gas, etc. is given.
Since the opening of our clinic, more than 10,000 patients have received general anesthesia and no problems or complications have been experienced.
List the procedures in which anesthesia is given in our clinic:
- Ovum pick-up (only general anesthesia is performed)
- Embryo transfer, etc. (can be done without anesthesia, general anesthesia is performed only to the patients who wish it)
- MicroTese operation (only general anesthesia)
- Hysteroscopy (only general anesthesia)
- Balloon procedures (can be done without anesthesia, general anesthesia is performed only to the patients who wish it)
- Insertion or retrieval of spiral (can be done without anesthesia, general anesthesia is performed only to the patients who wish it)
- Gynecologic examination (Examination under general anesthesia may be required in especially diseases such as vaginismus, etc.)
